I've always been told, "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well." It's a bit of a shame that nobody ever mentions that doing something well requires more perseverance, dedication and commitment than doing something quickly, or doing something just to tick a box. It should be common sense but it's really tempting to find yourself in the middle of the struggle and the hard work, wondering why doing things properly is proving so hard! After all, you're doing the "right" thing - shouldn't that be better?
In my experience, it might be easier to take shortcuts, do things the easy way, do it just to get it done and move onto the next thing, but it's definitely not as rewarding. Building something that lasts means we spend the first little while doing the invisible bits that nobody else will see - like building a foundation before you can build a tower. It's the behind-the-scenes stuff that nobody sees that is both the hardest to work on and the key to building something strong. If today is hard work, rest assured - you're not alone. Just keep going, because you're just in the difficult stage. Things do get easier really soon, so we just have to keep pushing forward.
